What to expect

Most patients will be treated with a combination of pressure point massage, manipulation and subtle myofascial release techniques for musculo-skeletal injuries, especially of the spine. If you have a preference for a particular style of treatment however, please let me know. It is important for all concerned to find the approach that best suits your needs and comfort while fixing the problem as quickly and thoroughly as possible.

Patients are treated with their clothes on, but will be asked to remove outer garments such as jackets, jumpers, scarves and hoodies. Family and friends are more than welcome to sit in on treatment, or relax in the waiting room if they choose. It is preferable that children under the age of 16 are accompanied by a parent.

Privacy and confidentiality

Osteopaths are expected to maintain the highest standards of privacy and confidentiality with their patients.

Treatment reactions

Sometimes things get worse before they get better. This is a normal response to treatment and usually involves a temporary increase in pain for 24 – 48 hours. Whilst half of the patients I treat start to get better straight away, half experience some degree of reaction, usually after the first treatment. Most often these symptoms disappear after the next treatment.
